After The Slam

With NPS2011 now over and done with I’m experiencing a little pang of the sweet loss of transition from happy reality to happy memory.  It was amazing to have this colossal poetry event erupting in my very back yard here in Greater Boston.

Host City Director Simone Beaubien summed up attendance nicely at the finals on Saturday night, August 13th, when she said that people were actually miffed at her because there were so many people in line on the streets and sidewalks waiting to hear poetry.  Such a phenomenon is not to be taken lightly.  When Charlotte hosts the nationals in 2012 they had better book some bigger venues.

In slam the work seems to be getting better and better.  If you haven’t yet, get out to see it.  You won’t believe how entertaining a poetry reading can be.
